My name is Liz and I just learned how not to make a salad.
And I learned that by attempting to make one.
"Ha," you may be snickering to yourself. "How does someone mess up something as simple as a salad? It's just throwing some veggies on top of lettuce."
Well, you obviously haven't met me. Hi. I'm me. And yes, while making salad is just throwing some veggies onto a bed of lettuce....it's also not. Not just that, at least.
My salad, while it was actually the first salad I've made myself where I did not use a store bought dressing, tasted okay. It wasn't bad by any means, but certainly not one I want to post pictures of or share with the world.
I learned, while making this salad, that there is a wrong way to wash your lettuce and that not all lettuce or greens are equal when it comes to a salad bed. I learned that it's important to use well proportioned vegetables and that there is such a thing as too many salad toppings. Also, you need to be somewhat methodical when dressing your salad and don't just haphazardly pour oil and vinegar onto it.
But, when all was said and done, it didn't taste bad and I ate the whole thing. However, I really want to learn to make better salads.
I want to learn how to use vegetables and how to dress salads in a healthy way.
I want to learn how to eat better and prepare simple, nutritious and delicious meals. I know it's possible because I've been reading the blogs and watching the vlogs for a while now and I've decided it's time for me to transition into a healthy lifestyle.
While I can't call this experience a success, I can learn from it. And when you get down to it, that's the important thing.
